McLaren GT, the race department of McLaren shows its newest piece… The McLaren 650S GT3.
The track-only McLaren 650S GT3 is based in the brand new McLaren 650S coupe (of course) and it will be presented to the public officially in this Goodwood Festival of Speed.
The McLaren 650S GT3 received several modifications to increase its performance on the track, the most visible is of course the extreme bodywork… the 650S GT3 receives an enormous front lip, extended fenders, vents on the hood as well as behind the headlights, the car receives a pretty cool mirror in carbon fiber with orange details… the rear receives leds and a modified rear diffuser and an extremely big rear wing.
Besides of bodywork, the McLaren 650S GT3 presents some other important modifications… the transmission system was changed from Ricardo to Xtrac unit, and it also uses a new race-tuned suspension system with 52mm wider than 12C. The McLaren 650S was tuned to when exceeds 250 km/h (155 mph) the car get super-glued to the ground.
The McLaren 650S GT3 is powered by the 3.8L V8 engine delivering around 500hp. The car will retail for 330,000 pound or more than 500,000 dollar and this excluding taxes. McLaren is planning to build 15 units of this and more 15 units of the 12C to the next year, and they will be competing against Ferraris, Lamborghinis, Audis among others on the 2015 season.
