As happened with the Veyron, which the name pays homage to the Bugatti racing driver Pierre Veyron, the successor will follow this same idea and will honor another racing driver in the Bugatti history… Louis Alexandre Chiron.
The Bugatti Chiron will come with the famous and awesome 8.0-liter quad-turbocharged W16 engine with an enormous power that figures at 1500 hp and 1,100 lb-ft (1491 Nm) of torque. To add 300 hp in the 1200 hp Veyron engine direct fuel injection is introduced and boost pressure is increased, with at least two of the four turbochargers now powered electrically.
Besides of increase the power, Bugatti will make the new Chiron lighter, more responsive and handle better than its predecessor… The Bugatti Veyron has a curb-weight of 1,888 kg (4,162 lb). With less weight and with more power to push it, the Bugatti Chiron has an unconfirmed top speed of 288 mph (463 km/h) and if proven, the Chiron will be alone without any hassle in the top of the list the world’s fastest cars. Furthermore, it will be able to accelerate from 0-62mph (0-100km/h) faster than its predecessor… The Bugatti Chiron may achieve the feat in less than 2.5 seconds.
Although the Bugatti has been working on the Veyron successor since 4 years ago, the Bugatti Chiron only will be launched in 2016. Between this period of time Bugatti is considering building a small additional batch of Bugatti Speedsters, which would put a bespoke body on the existing car… in other words, a new body for the Veyron.
