During the Detroit Motor Show 2015, Ford surprised everybody releasing an all-new version of its classic Ford GT with futuristic lines and boasting a V6 engine able to produce over 600 hp.
Designed to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of the Ford GT 1st, 2nd and 3rd in the 1966 24 Hours of Le Mans, the brand new GT combines advanced technology and a futuristic design in the most iconic American supercar.
The 2016 Ford GT is powered by a 3.5-liter twin turbocharged ecoboost V6 able to produce over 600 hp, replacing the 5.4-liter supercharged modular V8 present in the 2005-2006 model. Although Ford Motor did not provide the official figures about the new GT, it is expected a sprint from 0-60 mph (0-96 km/h) in around 3 seconds and a top speed exceeding 200 mph (322 km/h).
The 2016 Ford GT has a carbon fiber monocoque with aluminium front and rear subframes, once again, Ford did not reveal the weight of its futuristic car, but said which it is one of the best power-to-weight ratios of any production car.
Probably in the next days/weeks/months Ford will provide official numbers about the 2016 Ford GT. Furthermore, the production will begin late next year.
