Mclaren has revealed its first Sports Series model, the brand new 570S Coupé. This is the first time McLaren offers its pioneering and race-derived technologies in the sports car segment.
As the name suggests, the model comes with 570 horsepower (562bhp) and 600Nm (442lb ft) of torque produced by the well-known 3.8-liter Twin-turbo V8 engine, but with 30 percent of components bespoke to the Sports Series.
Mid-mounted engine, rear-wheel drive and with a carbon fibre chassis, McLaren 570S transfers its power to the road through a seven-speed SSG transmission and via Pirelli P-Zero Corsa tyres. The model still comes with standard-fit carbon ceramic brakes and a new suspension system along with ‘Normal’, ‘Sport’ and ‘Track’ handling settings.
The brand new McLaren 570S Coupé features class-leading levels of performance, coupled with optimised handling characteristics and driving dynamics.
The 570S coupé has a unique carbon fibre MonoCell II chassis incredibly strong and stiff — and weighs less than 80kg (176lbs). In addition to the lightweight structure, the use of aluminium body panels contributes to a dry weight of just 1313kg (2895lbs).
Combining its lightweight carbon fiber structure with its 570 horsepower, the McLaren 570S Coupé can accelerate from 0-62mph (0-100km/h) in 3.2 seconds, 0-124 mph (0-200 km/h) in 9.5 seconds while the top speed stands at 204mph (328 km/h).
Following the ‘form follows function’ philosophy, McLaren 570S boasts interesting lines. As McLaren P1, this form you can see has been ‘sculpted by the air’ and it features a bespoke aerodynamic package including intricately-designed dihedral doors, as well as a ‘floating’ door tendon which divides the airflow, channelling additional air to cool the mid-mounted V8 engine, and underneath the flying buttresses to increase downforce.
Designed for day-to-day, the interior is clear focused on engagement, visibility and functionality with the most usable space of any McLaren model to-date. McLaren 570S is comprehensively equipped with a full infotainment system including integrates climate control functionality, Bluetooth connectivity, as well as, an all-new TFT digital instrument cluster that changes configuration according to the selected driving mode.
McLaren offers a wide range of variety of interior customizations with a variety of factory available Alcantara, Nappa leather and carbon fiber options. And, of course, McLaren also offers bespoke interior specifications ‘by McLaren’ teaming carefully selected colors and materials designed to best showcase the stylish cabin space and coordinate with each exterior paint color.
The McLaren 570S Coupé was presented at the New York Auto Show on April 1, 2015.
