McLaren has introduced its brand new mid-engined supercar at the New York Auto Show… The McLaren 570S Coupé.
Presented as the first McLaren Sports Series model, McLaren 570S Coupé has less power in comparison with the 650S, but still boasts exceptional performance figures.
The McLaren 570S is a mid-engined rear wheel drive supercar mounted with a carbon fibre chassis which also brings the “form follows function” philosophy with a body created to purpose a superb performance even with reduced power.
With new lines, and each new line with a purpose… this British machine features a bespoke aerodynamic package including intricately-designed dihedral doors, a ‘floating’ door tendon which divides the airflow channelling additional air to cool the mid-mounted V8 engine, and underneath the flying buttresses to increase downforce.
Powered by a 3.8-liter twin turbo V8 engine, but with 30 percent of components bespoke to the Sports Series, the 570S boasts — as the name suggests — 570 horsepower (562bhp) and a maximum torque of 600Nm (442lb ft).
McLaren 570S transfers its total power to the road through a seven-speed SSG transmission to a top speed of 204 mph (328 km/h), while it takes just 3.2 seconds to reach 62 mph and 9.5 seconds to reach 124 mph.
Clear focused on engagement, visibility and functionality, the interior was designed for day-to-day with the most usable space of any McLaren model to date. McLaren makes available a wide range of variety of customizations with a variety of factory available Alcantara, Nappa leather and carbon fiber options.
With the 570S, McLaren wants to achieve a new customers group and compete with cars like Porsche 911, for example. We can’t say that the 570S Coupé is cheap with a price tag around $150,000, but, in comparison with the McLaren 650S and its over $250,000 price tag, this brand new toy seems very cheap.
