2016 Audi R8 Spyder Spotted for the First Time

Back in Geneva Motor Show, March 3rd, Audi reveals the second-generation of its R8 sports car as well as two other variations of it… The Audi R8 LMS race car and the all-electric R8 etron as well. Now, the first pictures of a topless Audi R8 emerged.

The 2016 Audi R8 Spyder has been spotted in testing ahead of its planned debut at the LA show in November.

The car is highly camouflaged, but it doesn’t matter here because we can perfectly see that the new R8 Spyder is using a soft top and the new engine cover has vents to help cool the V10 engine… yeah, such as the old one.

Like the coupé, the 2016 Audi R8 will be offered in two configurations. Both will use a 5.2-liter naturally aspirated V10 engine but with power and torque ranging from 532bhp and 398lb-ft in the standard version to 601bhp and 413lb-ft in the V10-plus variant.

Probably the performance figures will be very similar to the R8 Coupé, which has a top speed of 201mph (323 km/h) and a 0-62 sprint in 3.5 seconds (standard version) while the V10-plus has a top speed of 205mph (330 km/h) and the same sprint in 3.2 seconds.
