This is the Brand New McLaren 650S Can-Am

McLaren presents the newest limited edition based on the McLaren 650S Spider to honor the 50th anniversary of the inaugural Can-Am racing season.

Produced by McLaren Special Operations (MSO), the McLaren 650S Can-Am is coming limited to only 50 units worldwide and boasting some unique details inspired by Can-Am race cars that first took to the track in 1966.

The McLaren 650S Can-Am has the bonnet, front splitter, airbrake, door blades and center section of the rear bumper as well as the retractable hardtop and tonneau made of carbon.

Further, the car races on a lightweight 5-spoke set of wheels featuring black face and silver lips referencing to the McLaren’s Can-Am heritage. Also, the McLaren 650S Can-Am limited edition has vents positioned above the front wheels and distinctive quad exhaust tips.

This McLaren’s 650S special edition is available in three colors with its matching livery and unique interior. They are: Mars red inspired by the McLaren M1B debuted in the 1966 Can-Am season with interior in black Nappa leather, seats feature Stone Grey Alcantara centres and contrast stitching (yep, the copy in the pictures); Papaya Spark — which is an eye-catching shade of orange — with interior in black Nappa leather and seats with contrasting blue Alcantara centres; And last but not least, Onyx Black exterior paint, while the interior boasts black leather and seats with distinctive red Alcantara centres.

As stated, the car is based on McLaren 650S Spider and will be offered with the same 3.8L twin-turbo V8 engine putting 650PS (641bhp) and 678Nm (500lb ft) out pushing it to a top speed of 329 km/h (204 mph) and from 0-62 in 3.0 seconds.

The McLaren 650S Can-Am is priced at £255,850 (or more than $392,000) and the first deliveries are scheduled to start in the spring of 2016, year in which the inaugural Can-Am racing season will indeed celebrate its 50th anniversary.
