Lamborghini reveals a rear-wheel drive version of its V10-engined raging bull… This is the Lamborghini Huracan LP580-2.
As you can notice through the name, the Lamborghini Huracan LP580-2 has some slight differences in comparison to the Huracan we all know apart from the new rear-wheel drive layout.
The Huracan LP580-2 is powered by the same 5.2-liter naturally aspirated V10 engine, but as some RWD Gallardo models — like the Balboni Edition — it is a slightly less powerful than the all-wheel-drive version, but, on the other hand, it has a dry-weight of just 1389 kg (3062 lbs) or 33 kg (72 lbs) less than the Huracan LP610.
This new Huracan produces 580 hp (426 kW; 571bhp) and 540 Nm (384lb ft) of torque taken to the rear wheels through a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission, the same system that the AWD Huracan uses.
Talking about the performance figures, the new Lamborghini Huracan LP580-2 achieves a top speed of 199 mph (320 km/h) or 3 mph (5 km/h) slower the LP610, while it takes 3.4 seconds to accelerate from zero to 62 mph. The Huracan LP610 achieves this same feat in 3.2 seconds.
In addition to the new layout and less power, the new Huracan LP580-2 presents also a new front and rear bumper what makes easier for us to differentiate the RWD from the AWD model.
“The rear-wheel drive model fits perfectly into our Huracán family, appealing to those wanting an even more intense driving experience, or who currently drive other rear-wheel-drive marques and aspire to driving a Lamborghini. This is the purest expression of a Lamborghini to date, with class-leading technological refinements. It is a serious car for serious drivers: it is maximum driving fun.” Stephan Winkelmann, President and CEO of Automobili Lamborghini.
The Lamborghini Huracan LP580-2 has a base price of €150.000 or something like $160.000.
