McLaren 675LT Spider takes the top off its most engaging and exhilarating model
McLaren has revealed the drop-top version of its initially coupé only 675LT… This is the brand new Mclaren 675LT Spider.
Such as the coupé, the McLaren 675LT Spider is also limited to only 500 units worldwide and it was created, according to McLaren, in response to significant customer demand.
Just remembering, the McLaren 675LT coupé came out at the Geneva Motor Show earlier this year and in a gap of two months all units had been sold out.
666 hp and 516 lb-ft provide breathtaking performance, while a retractable roof adds further exhilaration
The highly modified 3.8-liter twin turbo V8 engine from the coupé pulses under the hood of the 675LT Spider too. The power and torque figures remain the same, it means that the car has a total output of 675 metric horsepower (666 bhp) at 7100 rpm and a maximum torque of 700Nm (516 lb-ft) available between 5,000-6,500 rpm.
The powertrain has more than 50% of the components replaced to ensure optimized levels of power, torque and drivability. Among the changes includes more efficient turbos, detail design changes to the cylinder heads and exhaust manifolds, new camshaft and lightweight connecting rods, and a faster-flowing fuel pump and delivery system.
The McLaren 675LT Spider weighs 2,800 lbs (1,270kg) dry, it means 88 lbs (40kg) more than the fixed-head model due to the retractable roof mechanism. In comparison to the 650S Spider, the open-top 675 is 220 lbs (100kg) lighter than it.
The McLaren’s new machine can accelerate from 0-62mph in that exact 2.9 seconds of the coupe, whereas from 0-124mph (200 km/h) is achieved in 8.1 seconds — 0.2 seconds slower than the coupé. Top speed is 203 mph (326km/h) or 2mph (4 km/h) less than its fixed-top brother.
As standard, the McLaren’s 675LT Spider is fitted with 10-spoke Ultra-Lightweight forged alloy wheels measuring 19-inch at the front and 20-inch at the rear wrapped in Pirelli P-Zero Trofeo R tires. Optionally available are a new 20-spoke design offered in liquid metal or diamond cut finishes and the five-spoke Super-Lightweight design, the one which debuted on the coupé.
Priced at $372,600 USD, the most focused, fastest and exhilarating open top McLaren model ever built will be strictly limited to 500 units globally
‘By McLaren’ interior themes are back for the 675LT Spider with a new addition, Xenon Yellow contrast stitch. First introduced at the 675LT coupé, ‘By McLaren’ are interior themes created carefully to match the exterior color.
All paint patterns offered on the 675LT are available on the Spider too. They are Silica White, Delta Red, Napier Green and Chicane Grey. In addition, McLaren developed a new bespoke deep golden color, dubbed as Solis, available only for the 675LT Spider.
Further enhancements can be made through the Club Sport Professional Pack, which adds further visual carbon fiber and stealth detailing.
As stated, the open-top 675LT Spider is limited to only 500 units worldwide — each one with a price of $372,600 — with first deliveries in summer 2016.
