Mercedes-AMG GT Roadster and AMG GT C Roadster Revealed

Yes, two at the same time.

If you were waiting for a roadster variation of the AMG GT, here’s your dream come true twice. The German company has revealed not just the open-top version of the AMG GT but also the topless version of the track-focused AMG GT R revealed in June… yeah, the Green Demon.

The Mercedes-AMG GT Roadster

As mentioned, the Mercedes-AMG GT Roadster is based on the AMG GT, so it will come at next month’s Paris Motor Show (where it will be officially revealed to the public) carrying a 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged V8 engine under that big hood.

The TT V8 sends nothing less than 469-bhp and 465 lb-ft of torque to the rear wheels through a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission.

Talking about wheels, the car will come with a set of 19-inch wheels with 255/35 R in front while the back sits on a 395/35 R.

Furthermore, standard equipment yet includes a sport-tuned suspension, a mechanically locking rear differential, four driving modes (Comfort, Sport, Sport+, and Individual), and a speed-sensitive rear wing as well as Power front seats, a rearview camera, and the Command infotainment system.

Optionally, you can get a Burmester sound, AMG Performance sport seats, seat ventilation, and the Airscarf neck-ventilation system.

Oh, and the specs are: the Mercedes-AMG GT Roadster is said to reach the 60-mile barrier in 3.9 seconds and be able to accelerate ’till 188 mph (302 km/h).

The Mercedes-AMG GT C Roadster

This version is based on the Green Demon, so it is much more powerful than the regular AMG GT Roadster and yet features some other particularities you won’t see in the regular one.

Starting from the engine, of course, the same 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 “beats” under the hood of this beast but it pumps some more ponies out. More specifically, the car produces 550 hp and 502 lb-ft of torque.

With more power and torque, it promises the 0-60 sprint in 3.7 seconds and a top speed of 196 mph (315 km/h).

Additionally, the Mercedes-AMG GT C Roadster sports wider rear fenders, an adaptive sport suspension, a set of 19- and 20-inch wheels wrapped in a 265/35-R front, and a 305/30-R rear set of tires. The car also boasts a new mode (the Race mode) apart from those four which the GT Roadster has.

Inside, the car gets Nappa leather and an AMG Performance steering wheel with Nappa trim. Oh, It also features a lighter-weight lithium-ion battery.

Well, these cars are roadsters so we have to talk about the top. Both of them are equipped with a fabric soft-top that takes about 11 seconds to open running up to 31 mph (50 km/h) and can be chosen in three different colors: beige, red and black.

The car will be shown to the public at the next Paris Motor Show that occurs in October (1-16). AMG has not revealed any price yet but you will have to wait till next year to order one when they’ll hit the market as 2018 models.
